Design For The People Takai Pendant is a pendant ceiling light designed by Sofie Lefevre for the Takai range. Its layered, rounded‑rectangular fabric shade and burnished brass stem nod to a luxury‑hotel aesthetic while providing ambient, decorative overhead illumination.

The Takai uses a stepped, nested shade made from rounded‑rectangular fabric layers, creating a flattened, oblong profile instead of a traditional drum. The outer textured woven fabric has a natural, linen‑like appearance in a light beige/cream tone, complemented by a burnished brass metal stem and visible rivet details.

Constructed from tactile textile and metal hardware, the pendant pairs soft fabric with refined brass accents for a considered finish. Visible fasteners along the vertical seams and the layered assembly highlight attention to detail and a crafted sensibility.

The multi‑tiered shade is designed to diffuse light, reducing glare and producing a soft, warm ambient glow ideal for living rooms, bedrooms and hospitality‑inspired schemes. Its oblong form spreads light broadly while adding a subtle sculptural presence when illuminated.
