The Astro Firehood 300 Fire Hood is a purpose-designed lighting accessory from Astro, built to restore and maintain the fire integrity of ceilings where recessed downlights have been installed. Its box-shaped enclosure and technical fabric construction are designed for use behind standard recessed light fittings.

The Firehood 300 features a rectangular, box-style form with sewn or bonded seams for a tidy finish. It is finished in a metallic silver, textured weave and is intended to fully enclose the rear of a downlight while accommodating heat management through a side-mounted vent.

Rather than rigid metal, this model uses a woven, fire-resistant technical fabric that is flexible yet holds its shape. The exterior shows a fine grid-like weave and a light metallic coating that improves durability while staying lightweight for installation.

Thermal performance is aided by an integrated side ventilation port with a perforated metal insert, allowing heat to dissipate while the hood maintains a fire-protective envelope around the fitting. The design is intended for use with recessed downlights and to help preserve the ceiling's fire integrity after installation.

Installation is straightforward: the flexible construction can be slightly compressed to pass through ceiling cutouts and then repositioned to surround the back of the fitting. The product is supplied with a 3-year manufacturer warranty from Astro.
